Dori Díaz Jerez

Dori Díaz Jerez was born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where she began her piano studies at the Conservatory of Music, graduating with honours under the direction of Professor Jesús A. Rodríguez Martín.

He furthered his piano studies in New York with Solomon Mikowsky, and at the same time received composition lessons from Giampaolo Bracali, and later studied composition at the New School University – Mannes College of Music – New York, graduating with the highest marks under the direction of Robert Cuckson. He was awarded the Bohuslav Martinů Prize in 2001.

Elisabet Curbelo

Carmen Ojeda

Carmen Ojeda is a versatile flautist. She is fluent in various forms of musical expression, although she focuses her interest on researching new sound resources on the flute, free improvisation and joint creation with composers and artists of our time. He initially trained at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. He then obtained a Master’s degree in performance at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, focusing his activity on contemporary music. He has given concerts as a soloist, in ensembles and orchestras in Spain, Holland, Germany, England, Romania, Bulgaria, Jordan and the Arab Emirates.

He has also participated in festivals of very varied styles in different countries. Some of the most important ones are DeSuite Muziekweek, Grachten Festival or the Hutspot New Music Festival in Amsterdam, the Holland Festival in Jordan, the Bahrain International Music Festival, Dis-Play or CaamSonora in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and the IMPRO Festival de Improvisación Libre de Canarias in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

In collaboration with other artistic disciplines he occupied one of the studios of the Centro de Arte La Regenta, where he developed a work based on shadows that was premiered in Berlin as part of the International Festival Moving Silence.

She has been principal flute of the Amman Symphony Orchestra, and has collaborated with the Gijón Symphony Orchestra, the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra, the Las Palmas Symphony Orchestra and the Atlantic Orchestra. She has also taught flute and chamber music at the National Conservatory of Music of Jordan and the Conservatory of Music of the Canary Islands.

Together with guitarist Tony Peña, she has recorded the album Weird games, and is currently preparing a new recording with her own works for solo flute and electronics on the CAAMSonora label.

She currently teaches flute at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. In her commitment to the education of new music from childhood, she has given workshops for children on sound experimentation, electronic music and sound painting at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Kids-play, FabricaFest and the Festival de música visual de Lanzarte.

Ernesto Mateo

Ernesto studied Piano and Composition in Las Palmas, graduating with Honors at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Canarias. He has taken lessons with pianists such as Nicolai Lugansky, José Luis Castillo and Galina Neporohznya, and also from composers as Agustín Charles Soler and José María Sánchez Verdú. He has been awarded by the Real Academia Canaria de Bellas Artes with the “Excellens” prize, which is given to a creator “who denotes a remarkable technical capacity in his art, with a strong personality and originality”. Winner of several composition contests, his works have been premiered in Europe and South America by performers such as the Filarmónica de Montevideo or the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria.

Mariana Abacioaie

Mariana Abacioaie was born in Bucharest (Romania) in 1958. She began playing the violin at the age of six and finished her studies at the Ciprian Porumbescu Conservatory of Music in Bucharest with the highest qualification, in the class of the prestigious professor Modest Iftinchi. Her concert career began at the age of ten, performing with various orchestras in her country and winning several national prizes. Her advanced studies took place at the Hochschule für Musik in Weimar, Germany.

Manuel Bonino

“D. “cum laude” from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Superior Degree in piano with honours, End of Degree Award in Composition in Madrid, post-graduate studies in Germany with Wolfgang Rihm. He is also a graduate in Piano and Chamber Music, and teaches composition at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Canarias.His catalogue ranges from chamber music to choral and orchestral music, including electroacoustic music, with a special interest in improvisation. With recordings on up to 12 discs, his music has been performed in Berlin, Paris, Prague, Budapest, Havana, Seoul, Shanghai, and on stages such as the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Auditorio Nacional de España, etc., by orchestras such as the Orchestra of the Canary Islands, the Orchestra of the Canary Islands and the Orchestra of the Canary Islands. by orchestras such as the Russian Chamber Orchestra of St. Petersburg, Sinfonietta of Paris, the Hungarian Chamber Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of Tenerife, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Gran Canaria, etc. and by performers such as Juri Gilbo, Raquel Lojendio, Julián Elvira, Johan van der Linden, etc.His arrangements of popular music have formed part of musicals such as “Querido Néstor II”, have been commissioned for institutional events such as the Day of the Canary Islands and have been recorded on CDs by groups such as Artenara or Mestisay and performed by different orchestras and symphonic bands. As a performer and improviser he has performed in Amsterdam, Berlin, Madrid, etc. He has been president of PROMUSCAN (association of composers and musicologists of the Canary Islands) and founding member of groups dedicated to electroacoustic and multidisciplinary improvisation such as Ensemble Salvaje or #(928), as well as part of the board of AIM (association of improvisers of the Canary Islands)”.
