With more than 200 concerts performed in the Netherlands and other cities across the continent\, the ensemble has been awarded the Grand Prix du Public at the Maastricht Awards of Music (2022) and the First Great Award at the Vienna International Competition (2024)\, a distinction that enabled them to begin recording their debut album with Orpheus Label for international release. \nThe quartet presents a distinctly international profile and a finely honed chamber music practice shaped under the guidance of renowned musicians such as Abel Tomàs (Cuarteto Casals)\, Alexander Pavlovsky (Jerusalem Quartet)\, Simone Gramaglia (Quartetto di Cremona)\, François Kieffer (Quatuor Modigliani)\, David Faber (Dudok Quartet)\, Luc-Marie Aguera (Quatuor Ysaÿe)\, Gerhard Schulz (Alban Berg Quartet) and Marc Danel (Quatuor Danel)\, among others. Con más de 200 conciertos ofrecidos en los Países Bajos y otras ciudades del continente\, el conjunto ha sido reconocido con el Grand Prix du Public en los Maastricht Awards of Music (2022) y el First Great Award del Vienna International Competition (2024)\, distinción que les ha permitido iniciar la grabación de su álbum debut con Orpheus Label para su distribución internacional. \nEl cuarteto presenta un marcado perfil internacional y un trabajo camerístico afinado con la guía de referentes como Abel Tomàs (Cuarteto Casals)\, Alexander Pavlovsky (Jerusalem Quartet)\, Simone Gramaglia (Quartetto di Cremona)\, François Kieffer (Quatuor Modigliani)\, David Faber (Dudok Quartet)\, Luc-Marie Aguera (Quatuor Ysaÿe)\, Gerhard Schulz (Alban Berg Quartet) y Marc Danel (Quatuor Danel)\, entre otros. Así se abre el IV Festival de Tiempos Modernos en Arrecife\, que convierte Lanzarote en un punto de encuentro para quienes desean redescubrir el patrimonio cinematográfico y musical. \nEste festival no es solo un viaje al pasado: es una experiencia única y actual\, donde grandes pianistas reinterpretan en directo películas centenarias\, demostrando que el cine mudo nunca estuvo realmente en silencio. Una oportunidad para toda la familia\, cinéfilos\, melómanos\, turistas y curiosos de dejarse sorprender por la fuerza del séptimo arte… con banda sonora viva. \nLa jornada del 20 de septiembre: charla y cine concierto \nPara inaugurar esta edición\, contaremos con un invitado de excepción: Jorge Gil Zulueta\, pianista\, compositor y musicólogo especializado en el arte de acompañar el cine mudo. A las 19:00 h\, ofrecerá una charla divulgativa titulada: “Músicas y músicos en la España silente. El cine que nunca fue mudo” \nEn ella\, Jorge nos mostrará cómo la música fue esencial desde el nacimiento del cine\, desmontando viejos mitos como el de la “música para tapar el proyector” y destacando el valor artístico y emocional del acompañamiento musical. También pondrá en valor a pianistas de las Islas Canarias que iluminan este capítulo olvidado de nuestra historia. \nTras la charla\, viviremos el momento culminante con el cine concierto: la proyección de Seven Chances (1925)\, comedia brillante de Buster Keaton\, acompañada en directo al piano por Jorge Gil Zulueta. Una velada donde la música nacerá\, respirará y correrá junto a las imágenes\, como ocurría hace más de un siglo. \nJorge Gil Zulueta: un pianista que cuenta historias \nJorge Gil Zulueta está considerado un referente en el acompañamiento del cine mudo en España. Ha colaborado con la Filmoteca Española en el Cine Doré\, la Filmoteca de Catalunya y la Cinémathèque de Luxemburgo\, entre otros\, además de participar en festivales como SACO\, Alcine o Granada Paradiso. \nSu labor no se limita a la interpretación: es investigador y divulgador\, próximo a publicar un ensayo sobre la música en el cine silente español. Sus programas de cine concierto son un viaje sonoro por ragtime\, foxtrot\, jazz\, repertorio clásico y canciones populares que se usaban para musicalizar el cine en sus albores. \nCon un estilo libre\, mezcla influencias que van de Art Tatum y Fats Waller a James Booker\, generando un lenguaje propio que dialoga con cada fotograma. This experience is complemented by the reading of poems by authors such as Federico García Lorca\, Alejandra Pizarnik\, Jorge Luis Borges\, Silvina Ocampo and Josué Marcos Belmonte (Ioshua)\, generating a suggestive dialogue between word and image.\nMassimo Macrì\, considered one of the most relevant Italian cellists of his generation\, has been first violoncello in the RAI National Orchestra and has collaborated with ensembles such as the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra\, the Bayerisches Rundfunk in Munich and the Philharmonia della Scala. He has performed under the baton of conductors such as Bernstein\, Maazel\, Mehta and Chailly\, and has an extensive discography on labels such as Deutsche Grammophon\, Naxos and Brilliant Classics. He is also founder and artistic director of the Magliano Alfieri Classic Festival in Italy.\nDavide Vendramin is an accordionist and bandoneon player\, winner of prizes in international competitions and a regular at venues such as the Philharmonie in Berlin\, the Lucerne Festival and the Teatro alla Scala\, where he has worked with conductors such as Claudio Abbado and Riccardo Chailly. His recording activity includes recordings for Decca\, ECM and Da Vinci Classics\, and he is currently a professor at the Vicenza Conservatory (Italy).\nEleonora Macrì Pedregal\, Italian-Canarian actress\, combines her training in music and performing arts with her participation in film and theatre projects in Italy and Spain. DESCRIPTION:In June we continue to make music resonate in Arrecife with the II Ciclo de Conciertos de Proximidad\, a project that takes chamber music to the neighbourhoods\, creating meeting places where culture is shared and enjoyed in community. The Nino Díaz Foundation promotes this project with the firm intention of establishing closer links between the public and the artists\, making each concert an accessible\, participatory and emotional experience. In this edition\, we have an extraordinary musician: Ángel Luis Quintana (cello). He is currently a soloist with the Orquesta Nacional de España\, the Orquesta de Cámara de Canarias and guest professor at the Rotterdam Conservatory. He has performed on international stages and has collaborated with renowned ensembles\, marking an exceptional career. A repertoire specially selected for this opportunity will be played by the magnificent cellist and his unique instrument\, a J. Guadagnini “Il Soldato” from the year 1800\, on loan from the Columbus Foundation. In addition\, the concert will feature the magic of José Carlos Campos\, whose narration will guide us on a sonorous journey full of stories that will envelop the evening in a warm and evocative atmosphere. The Nino Díaz Foundation promotes this project with the aim of creating meeting places where everyone can enjoy live chamber music\, in a way close to the musicians\, instruments and musical language. \nOn this occasion we invite you to enjoy Lanzarote Sax Quartet\, an ensemble with more than 20 years of experience that unites teacher and students in the same mission: to disseminate and promote chamber music and culture. Integrated by: Salvador Santana Luján (soprano saxophone)\, Giovani Noda Niz (alto saxophone)\, Félix Rollán Díaz (tenor saxophone) and Javier Luzardo Pastoriza (baritone saxophone). \nIn addition\, we will have the exciting narrations of Saray Castro\, who will guide the audience through the stories and sounds of each piece performed\, and with the text and direction of José Carlos Campos. \nThe evening’s repertoire will include leading figures in classical and contemporary music such as Ferenc Farkas\, who was a Hungarian composer known for his works of music for band and orchestra.  Travelling to another continent we will have Lino Florenzo with a focus on Latin American music and Arturo Márquez\, a Mexican composer famous for his works that combine elements of folklore.  Returning to the old continent\, the music of Pedro Iturralde (Spanish musician and composer) takes us to experience the fusion of flamenco and jazz. Finally\, with the works of Luis Niehaus and Jean-Michel Naulais\, Lanzarote Sax Quartet together with the magical Saray Castro will create a warm and particular atmosphere offering a diverse sound journey full of nuances. \nConciertos de Proximidad is an invitation to discover\, feel and share music as a universal language. La Fundación Nino Díaz impulsa este proyecto con el objetivo de crear espacios de encuentro donde todas las personas puedan disfrutar de la música de cámara en vivo\, de una forma cercana a los músicos\, los instrumentos y el lenguaje musical. \nEn esta ocasión los invitamos a disfrutar de Lanzarote Sax Quartet\, un conjunto con más de 20 años de trayectoria que une a profesor y alumnos en una misma misión: divulgar y promover la música de cámara y la cultura. Penderecki Music Competition and one of the most versatile clarinettists of his generation. \nTrained in Barcelona with Joan Enric Lluna and at the Royal Academy of Music in London\, he has won numerous awards at the JJ.MM de Espana\, Palau de la Música de Barcelona\, the Geoffrey Hawkes Clarinet Prize\, the John Ireland Chamber Music Competition and the BBC Young Artists Forum in London. \nHe has collaborated with the Orchestre des Jeunes de la Mediterranée\, the Interregionales Simphonieorchester\, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchester\, Orquesta Sinfónica del Liceo\, Orquestra del Teatre Lliure and the European Union Chamber Orchestra. In the field of chamber music he has collaborated with members of the Ensemble Intercontemporaine\, the Osiris Trio from Holland\, the string quartets Brodsky\, David\, Casals and Con Tempo\, the Ensemble Barcelona 216 and the Schubert Octet. \nParticularly interested in the dissemination of contemporary music\, he has founded the Trio Guinjoan and the orchestra Cambra XX. She received a scholarship with the ‘Oms i de Prat’ Prize and also by the Hungarian Government to extend her studies in Hungary. \nHer presence as a soloist has been requested by numerous festivals such as: ‘Festival de Música y Danza de Granada’\, ‘Quincena Musical de San Sebastián’\, ‘Matinées du piano’ of Orleans\, Festival Internacional de Música de Santander\, Auditori de Barcelona\, Festival de Perelada\, Ljubljana… and in many festivals specialised in contemporary music. \nFor many years he has received advice from the maestro Jean-Pierre Dupuy. He has performed as a member of the Duo Kroma\, Trio Guinjoan\, Diabolus in Musica\, piano duo with Jean-Pierre Dupuy\, among many others. \nHe has recorded for Radio France\, Radio Slovenija\, RNE\, TV Alhambra\, Catalunya Música… with numerous premieres of Spanish composers.
