DESCRIPTION:Macarena Pesutic Hecker was born in Concepción\, Chile. She studied violin with Americo Giusti\, Jaime de La Jara and Alberto Dourthé at the Facultad de Artes de la Universidad de Chile and with Patricio Cobos at the Columbus University (USA). She finished her viola studies with Nobuko Imai (bachelor’s and master’s degree\, 2001/2003) in the Hochschule für Musik Detmold and with Tatjana Masurenko (Konzertexamen\, 2003) in the Hochscule für Musik und Theater Leipzig. She also holds a master’s degree from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Madrid\, España) in Investigación y Creación Musical (2008). \nShe has also taken master classes with Samuel Sanders\, Aaron Rosand\, Thomas Riebl\, Roberto Díaz\, Shmuel Ashkenasi\, Eberhardt feltz and members of the Julliard Quartet and the Vermeer Quartet. \nHer career has taken her into important musical festivals including the Academie International d’eté de Nice (France)\, International Musicians Seminar (UK)\, Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival (USA)\, Apple Hill Chamber Music Festival (USA)\, Holland Music Sessions (Holland)\, Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival (Finland) and the Thy Chamber Music Festival (Denmark). \nMacarena won second prize at the MTNA Competition (1994\, USA) and first prize at the RWE Competition in Leipzig (2001\, Alemania). \nAs a soloist\, she has performed Bartók’s viola Concerto with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Concepción (Chile) and Mozart´s Sinfonia Concertante for violin and viola with the Symphonie Orchester Warendorf (Alemania)\, among others. Since 2004 she is a member of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife and since 2005 she teaches viola at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Canarias\, sede Tenerife. As a chamber musician\, Macarena performs regularly with different ensembles in Spain\, Chile and Germany. \n\nJavier Lanis was born in Santiago\, Chile\, in 1972. He studied piano with Elisa Alsina and chamber music with Elvira Savi at the Facultad de Artes de la Universidad de Chile. He continued his career with Robert Roux at the Rice University (U.S.A.). In January 2005 he finished his studies with the highest marks obtaining the “Konzertexamen” degree with Anatol Ugorski at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold (Germany). \nHe has won the Claudio Arrau Piano Competition in Chile three times (1983\, 1985\, 1991) and he also obtained the first prize in the 2nd Frédéric Chopin Piano Competition in Chile (1991). \nBetween 1996 and 2000 he received the Esso Chile international grant given by the Corporación de Amigos del Teatro Municipal. He was also awarded the special support of the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Chile. \nIn 2000 he received a full scholarship from the Yale University to participate with Claude Frank\, Lilian Kallir\, Gilbert Kalish\, Boris Berman\, members of the Tokyo String Quartet and the Vermeer String Quartet at the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival (U.S.A.). \nHis piano career has taken him into important concert halls of Europe including Rachmaninoff Hall (Tchaikovsky Conservatory\, Moscow)\, Purcell Room (Royal Festival Hall\, London) Bösendorfer-Saal (Vienna) and the Beethovenhalle (Bonn). \nHe has performed as a soloist with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Chile\, Orquesta Sinfónica de Concepción\, Nordwestdeutsche Philarmonie and Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife. \nJavier Lanis held the position of assistant teacher for Anatol Ugorski’s class in Detmold\, Germany\, and since 2005 he teaches at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Tenerife. \n\nPROGRAMA \nPaul Hindemith (1895 – 1963) \nSonata for viola and piano Op. 11 n. 4 \n\nFantasie\nThema mit Variationen\nFinale (mit Variationen)\n\nNino Díaz (1963) \nI am a worm… \nJohannes Brahms (1833 – 1897) \nSonata for piano and viola in fa menor Op. 120 n. 1 \n\nAllegro appassionato\nAndante un poco adagio\nAllegretto grazioso\nVivace\n\n\nPROGRAM NOTES
